Maryland Rosé Round-Up

June 8, 2017

Rosé:  the quintessential summer wine.  While Rosé can be enjoyed year round, many people associate it with summer.  I tend to be one of those people, as nothing sounds better to me on a hot summer day than a dry, crisp, refreshing Rosé.

  • One common misconception about Rosé that we need to debunk right away:  Rosé does not mean sweet!  While there are some Rosé wines that are sweet, many Rosés are dry.
  • Almost all of the Rosés featured here are made from 100% red grapes.
  • Another thing many people don’t realize:  Rosé pairs well with many different types of food!  I am certainly not a pairing expert, so my advice would be to ask someone at the winery what they would suggest pairing that specific Rosé with.

I wanted to create a post where readers could easily see some of the wineries here in Maryland that are carrying Rosé this summer.  Just to be clear, this list is not an exhaustive list of Maryland Rosé that is available around the state- just a taste. 🙂  But hurry!  Some of these Rosés are already on their way to being sold out!

To be honest, I was conflicted about what information to include about each winery.  While Dan and I have learned so much about wine-making and all it’s complexities, I still want to stay true to the original focus of Love and Wine, which is to provide “stats” about each winery.  These stats don’t convey the passion each of these winemakers have for their vineyards and their wine.  The best way to see that passion is to visit the wineries yourselves- taste the wine, walk the properties, and truly see for yourself the amazing wine Maryland is producing.

Along with “stats,”  I included the composition of each wine (AKA what grapes it’s made of), as well as the tasting notes from the winery itself.
